Oh my god! Oh my god!
Katlyn turned her face away from Trent, her cheeks burning as she struggled to take in a deep breath. She had never in her life found being in a room with a male difficult before, but with Trent, everything she had previously experienced was wrong. The sexual tension had been so thick the hairs on her arms had risen to attention. His touch had set her on fire, and not in the traditional sense for her kind. The feel of him under her fingers had ignited something deep inside, like her phoenix had finally unfurled her wings and was ready to fly.
When Trent left to go to work, she had sat down and thought long and hard about how she felt. In the absence of his distracting presence, she had processed every feeling she had encountered since their meeting. She would have liked to have spoken to her parents about him, but the last thing she needed at this point was their intervention or to put them in danger.
If she really thought about it, she needed to focus on her current situation, the one where she survives long enough to contemplate having a relationship. Her phoenix had made the choice for her, but she just couldnât follow that blindly. Could she?
For starters, Katelyn knew nothing about Trent other than he was American and worked for the PSS. She needed to know more. Maybe that was the first step.
Her gaze tracked himâall six feet plus of himâas he moved about the room whilst he talked on the phone. Usually, someone as large as him would lumber, but not Trent. No, he stalked, and he did it quietly. Katelyn watched each and every muscle bunch under the t-shirt he wore, and she flushed as she remembered him without it.
Physically he was perfectâto her. Attraction wasnât a problem. She would quite happily make like a pole dancer and climb him like a pole. But she wanted more than that. More than just instant lust.
Trent wasnât the type she usually went for. Yes, her ex had been ripped, but in a leaner way, and he was nowhere near as tall as Trent. Only now...
Now Trent was all she thought of and had been since the moment he came to her outside his office. His words pulled her from her inner musings.
âRight. Anything else?â he asked into the phone. Nodding once, he ended the call and looked at the screen for a moment before putting it away. Slowly, he moved back towards her and sat down like he had before, but instead of just sitting there, he took both her hands in his own, squeezing gently before running his thumbs over the pulse points on her wrists. His voice pulled her gaze from their hands and to his stormy grey eyes.
âMike will be delivering your bag with what youâve asked for tomorrow. Your apartment building is being watched and they are tracking anyone that looks out of the ordinary. So heâs having to wait for the cover of night to go in.
